Gary Lohman has been painting landscapes of his home area and travels since 1996. Most of Gary's paintings come from farmland and water locations in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. His main focus has been on areas in the Shenandoah Valley and Piedmont Region of Virginia, and his water scens come from the nearby Chesapeake Bay. Gary works mainly in acrylic, oil, and watercolor. His art portrays the brilliant colors and shapes of farm, mountain, and water scenes inspired by his love of nature.
Gary has a great love of being near the water and many of his paintings have been inspired by sights along the Delaware and Maryland coast. His paintings also draw from the many landscape scenes discovered during his travels throughout the east coast area.
Gary was an active board member at the Shanandoah Valley Art Center (SVAC) where he exhibited many of his works at SVAC located in Waynesboro, Virginia. He has also exhibited his works in other art shows such as Art at the Mill, Piedmont Regional Art Show, Warrenton Spring Festival, and the annual juried Virginia Fall Foliage Art Show.
For him, painting is a way to document the beauty and moods of nature by capturing it onto canvas or paper. His paintings should provide enjoyment to people who appreciate fine landscape art.
